REP. PIERSON CELEBRATES HISTORIC PASSAGE OF SCHOOL CHOICE IN TEXAS

AUSTIN, TX — The Texas House has passed Senate Bill 2 (SB2), a historic school choice bill that establishes an Education Savings Account (ESA) program to empower Texas families and expand educational opportunities.

“Today’s historic passage of SB2 is a monumental victory for House District 33 and my constituents,” said State Representative Katrina Pierson. “For nearly two decades, I’ve fought to empower parents, including my work for President Donald Trump, who elevated this issue as a national priority, and my service now alongside Governor Greg Abbott to make it a reality here in Texas. This bill empowers parents to choose the best education for their children and for underserved communities to access new pathways to success. I’m grateful to my colleagues for their commitment to building a stronger, freer future for every Texas child.”

Texas made a bold choice, allocating a nation-leading $1 billion to launch the ESA program, ensuring strong support for students while maintaining fiscal responsibility and protection against government interference. Everything is bigger in Texas, including our new education freedom program, which is the largest day one program in America.
